Hello All,

I just picked up an '06 FE 450E to replace my '01 XR400R. What was missing for me was better suspension, plate and magic "E" button. I will be spending the next week or so giving it the once over and performing all the normal maintenance items.

Bozarth's Offroad Service Specialities is just across town from me and I suspect I'll be spending some quality time with them.

I trust that this forum will be as informative as so many others that I've been able to gather sage wisdom from.

Anyway - hello again.

Did some quick maintenance on the bike (oil/filter, air filter clean/lube, chain clean/lube) and took a quick ride out to chat with Rick at Bozarth's.

Great guy and learned a ton in a short visit. I picked up some goodies and I will for sure be back.

Next I need to bone up on how to re-jet the carb. I suspect is running a bit lean as it is a bit sluggish on the bottom.

Picked up the parts I needed and finished my carb tune. I followed Rick Bozarth's recommendation as follows:

180 Main ( was 178 )
45 Pilot (not changed)
Fuel Screw 2 1/2 turns out (was 2 out)
Needle 3rd from bottom (was 3rd from the top)

I also replaced the o-ring around the needle valve assy. This was to fix a little fuel weeping out of the drain tube.

Previously, the bottom was a bit "soft" and there was an abrupt transition when the power came on. Now the bike is transformed and has good power from the start.

Very stoked!
:D

Glad to hear Rick helped get your carb sorted. We're lucky to have such a good resource nearby!
