I have been looking at a 2004 fs450 for about 2 weeks now, ive been lurking the forums and realized that yall have as much love for husabergs as most people do for their firstborn children lol. After test riding it I understand the love, and am now about to purchase this bike. Now ive done a lot of research, and understand that the 2004 has most of the issues resolved, but I was wondering if you guys have anything to say about the reliability of this particular model. I will most likely buy the bike anyways since its all I can think about, but I would like to know if I should preventatively fix anything that might be an issue.
heres the history of the bike in case anyone cares: original owner bought it for a racebike, but bought it with a California plate from the dealer. never rode streets, and raced it for 100 hours. after that he had it rebuilt (cost 2000$) and sold it to the guy that im going to buy it from. that guy put around 50 hours on it, did religious oil changes but never adjusted the valves.
should I stay away or buy it? for 2500 it seems like to good of a deal to pass up, but I don't make enough money to do a 2000$ rebuild every 100 hours
sorry about the lengthy post. ill try to keep them shorter going forward
