the USA has a product for everything so i was thinking aloud whether any of you can recommend a product that could be used to fill a little recess in in the inlet port i have.

a kind of alloy weld type stuff.

i used to use araldite years ago but chemical progress is never ending!

I used a product called "Marine tex " a few years ago on the head of a v 8 engine. there was a crack that was affecting the seal of the header on the exuahst port. This material is susposed to be bullet proof and you can " drill, tap or machine " after hardening. Worked good for me but have not been able to find it here in Nevada. If it is not structural, J B Weld may work.

could you break down their e-mail address please and place it here. i can cut n pate an email address but i've had work done on the bloody 'puter today and it doesn't like hyperlinks!!!

verdampt!

berger thanks for that-i'm going to get on with it as soon as i can.

wow! to me that's like the candy store!!!!

nice one dale!

i've done several measurements in the inlet port and i figure that it needs slimming down where you get to the 1-into-2 area. a lot of the stuff is starting to add up now.

port filler

Taffy,
I understand that a product called Devcon is used by auto tuners to fill and reshape inlet ports on "race" engines (read: alloy head four cylinders)

searched and found devcon.com plenty of fun stuff.

i use the devcon three years ago or more coz that's how od this thread is. it's still ther but the edges break off. basically anything under 0.5mm is gone. it costs a fortune and doesn't last forever so i'd rather rent the pot out to anyone who needs some. at least it'll get used. it's liketaking a teaspoon of sugar out of a 2LB bag!

I use the titanium re-enforced devcon at work for getting people out the ****, top stuff, and it is machinable, i didnt believe it but it is really good

have a big tin of ceramax its a novalock epoxy resin with milled kevlar fibres and ceramic platelets as filler. its tough stuff machines good and wears out sandpaper like sandpaper. its used to build up wear plates on trucks. not sure what to do with it maybe put a bit on the swingarm under the chain giude.

how much smaller did you make the intake taffy? its prolly small enough on the 650 ?
