RE: Re: RE: Has anyone tried one of these air filters?
I tried a DNA filter on my 08
2 hours riding alone in damp conditons so not much dust, I found sand in my oil filter so checked out the DNA properly
there was grit in the airbox, holding the filter up to the light you can see right through it, there are huge holes in them, thats how they get a good flow figure.
the standard test for filters feeds an enourmous ammount of dust into the machine in a very short time, the dust quickly clogs the huge holes and the filter passes the test.
an oiled foam filter gets dried out very quickly by the dust and doesn't do so well in the same test.
if you do a search for DNA intake valve rescession KTM you should find some guys with 950 twins dualsporting who had bad experiences with the DNA filters.
this is in Australia the oldest flattest bit of the world with the finest dust. elsewhere is probably OK
