Hard to start with gear engaged?

well, the question is:

I´m out riding and the motor dies on me... (often due to my lack of drivingskill! :) ) when I then try to restart with a gear engaged, and the clutch in of course, it starts but dies again almost imidiatly.
If I then, instead, try to start it whith no gear engaged it starts and runs.

Am I imagining things or has anyone else the same problem?
Maybe I´m stupid and this is normal?
Maybe something else is the problem?

I hope you understand my question, even though I couldn´t find the right english words for it...

Thanks Bendburg, helpful as always!

But it must be very small dragging?!? But maybe it still can make a problem?

I thought that drag could be the problem, but if I got a gear engaged, clutch fully in and then add gas to it.... there´s no dragging... wouldn´t it be if dragging´s the problem?

Is it at the clutchandle... that can´t be the word for it...but I think you know what I mean... I shall adjust...
or how do I adjust the clutchlever?

Stupid as can be... sincerly yours... 8)

A bit of drag is often hard to get rid of. It is my case, I have tried different things and still I have a bit of drag. If I cannot find neutral, I will get into a high gear to reduce the dragging effect and restart it like that first kick.

i cured it - for a while anyway!

the inner drum is made of alloy and it gets grooved like a comb. change this and be cured!

second cure is to have all the clutch plates out and measure them on an engineers plate for flatness. try a .05mm (2 thou in english or .002") feeler gauge, if you can get it under anywhere it means that the plates are warped. just change those plates.

another one is that every time you have the clutch down trry to put the plates in a different order somewhere else and turn them to face the other way etc.

go into the doc, it's all there.

On my bike there always seems to be a little bit of clutch drag, more so when the bike/clutch is cold. The Husaberg starter motor has a lot of work to do and any extra drag seems to give the starter motor a hard time.

Best to make it easy on the starter by having the bike in neutral.

Thanks again!

We´ll see what I`ll do about it...

But if I read you between the lines.... This is a common problem... and it could be such a small drag that you won´t notice it, but the times you try to start or when you try to find neutral with the engine running?

And Taffy, as a earlier mentioned, as stupid as can be.... I´ve should have checked the docs...
I´ll try to remember that next time...

IOU!
