Hard to start and restart

Hello, i have Husaberg FE 400 '03.
Since i bought it i had problems with ignition, first, the stator gone legs up so i bought a replacement Electrex. It worked excellent for 2 weeks and than fried my CDI, so i bought a replacement CDI from HPI Ignition which is in pair with the Electrex stator so stator might not fry the CDI this time. It works great now, i rode it only 2 times since i put new CDI because we have 1 meter of snow on the fields.

The only problem is that the bike is starting very poorly, also restarts are not much easier but sometimes it fires right up, my electric start is also broken so i must kick it. When i try to cold start it, i must kick it at least 10 times hard with choke on, than leave it for a minute and again kick it with choke but this time with a liiitle bit of open throttle and it might fire up. I tried everything, with throtle open, without throttle, with choke, without choke, everything. It really needs at least 25 kicks to start up when cold, when it is warmed up and i stall it, it takes 4-5 good kicks to get it going.

Now i don't know what is the problem, is it electrical or is it fuel. I didn't start my bike since September, than it started more or less fine, 2 kicks from cold and 1 to restart. I'm not sure if the cold weather has it's hands in my problem and my fuel mixture is not right because i never started the bike in winter.
I really hope it has nothing to do with ignition because i already spent 500€ on ignition problems and im sick of it.

have you put a timing light on the engine? have you checked the ignition advance?

from my experience the stator needs to be as '********' as far as possible. this means as far right as it will go as you look at it mounted on the bike. and even then they are about 8 degrees over advanced.

so you didn't save any money after all with electrex? such a shame...

Hmmm, you might think that some body might have some sort of claim if the non original replacement is not compaterble with the original unit.
How do they get away with it??.

Sparks.

i had another one call me yesterday.
It's my coil!!!!
are you sure?
yes, we replaced the stator and still no spark
ok, but the new stator can't be new because they don't make them anymore?
it is! it's an electro, electra ummmm?
electrex?
that's the one!
ooooooh dearrrrrr. have you seen my advert on ebay?

I can understand that people buy before reading here. it will happen.

Today i ******** the ignition as far as it will go, it started a little easier(about 10 kicks from cold), restarts a little better but on higher RPMs it misfires.

A guy that has the same bike as me told me to check my automatic decompression on cam, he says he had the same problem and when he changed it, he was starting the bike very very easy. I'll sure be checking that little thing and setting the ignition a little bit back to see if it fires better.

"higher RPM?"

is this paddock stand (in the garage) time or dirt time this 'misfire'?

Taffy i'm sorry but i don't quite understand your question since i'm not a natural english speaker.

If i got it right you ask me if i rode it or reved in garage. I rode it and on about 1/2 of throttle it begins to misfire and it shoots from exhaust
Also i have feeling that bike is going slower than it used to but i'm not sure because i haven't rode it for months.

you may need to blow the carb out as it is running lean i think or ********. try advancing the ignition 1mm then another 1mm?

Hey i don't want to open a new topic just for 1 question so i will do it in here to save space.

So i removed spark plug and noticed it was really black colored, it looks something like this only more blacker with no brighter spots. It is really dry, no oil on it or something.

I was trying something with carb, raising the needle clip on the original position and cleaned it thoroughly. Bike starts very hard, misfires hard on mid-high revs and also it smokes black-grey. Does anyone know what should i look for?

I replaced spark plug and plug cap and it made the bike restart a lot easier, i also found out a new technique for kickstarting and now it starts first time if properly kicked.
