I have the cure for you guys that are having a hard time starting your berg. Stay Tuned for more. :D
hint : you will have to give up a little to accomplish this.

Will this cure require a tow-strap? :D
I refuse to give up my six-pack! :drinking:

You don't have to give up beer or have a hill. I am almost ready. Patience boys. :D

By the way what is the best method for a tow start?

But I am very interested to read your "findings" :)

To me it's still new plug or nothing. I hope to have the Keihin soon in the mail. :?

Just tie your Berg to the bumper of your wifes car, put the pedal to the metal and hope for the best! :D

Seriously... Where on the "towee's" bike do you put the tie? And on the "tower"'s? 3rd gear?

footrest to footrest is best. 3rd gear or second are fine. remember to give it a good run when it's running so try it with your skid lid on etc etc.

 I prefer the foot peg on the towing bike to the handle bar of the bike being towed. Make sure you have a rope strong enough that it will not break and get tangled up in the sprocket. Maybe use carbiners to attach the two bikes so they cant come apart. I think you could also get some hints from Splat if you can find him and also Tuts. I seem to remember him using the tow start method. :p
Shortly you will be able to buy THE CURE to hard starting.

I heard The Cure was something Adam Sandler listened to making him what he is today. ie you won't care if it starts or not.

I use a Malcolm Smith tow strap. It has a loop on one end that we loop to the pulling bike. The other end of the strap goes through the handlebar mounts (to keep things centered) then wraps around the left handlebar grip about three times, (not tied). Basically, the person being towed is keeping the bikes together by simply having his left hand gripping the strap. If the bike starts, simply let the strap loose with your left hand and it will unravel and be pulled safely away by the tow bike. No more screaming at your friend to "stop, my bike is running" as he pulls you through the cacti!

This also works for long distance towing and it's so nice to be able to just let go if you need to.

Okay, back to the hard starting cure!

Your not helping!
If sombody can start their bike easy with another bike to pull it how will I sell my CURE? who wants to see sombody be able to let go and NOT have the bike dragging behind when he falls  ? The BEST wrecks are loading ,unloading, and tow starting!
I am sure Froggy knew it was in jest . Right Froggy?...... Dont tell me you really were going to try the footpeg to footpeg or footpeg tied to handle bar . Well if you do make sure to have wifey out there with the camcorder so we can all have a smile.

I had to be towed about 10 miles out of the
woods on my Husaberg.I tried several methods.
Do not tie the strap to the bike anywhere. The
bike steers very wierd no matter what you do.
You need both hands on the bars but unless
you can hold the strap with your teeth there
is no safe way to do it.Do not tie it to your
wrist.(or any other part of your anatomy you
wish to keep.)If starting use 2nd or 3rd gear,
1st just kept sliding the tire.(or is that tyre
taffy?)

Hi Gang,

For long distance towing, use that spare 21" tube that you all carry tied around the fork tubes of the towee. Attach the tow rope/strap to the tube. The tower dhould have the rope attached as low as possible, foot peg or sub frame opposite chain is generally good. the tube takes all the shock out and keeping the strap low on the tower reduces the chance of looping. Only used this techniques so far to tow KTMs and XRs out. Always good for a laugh when Berg does the retrieving.

I'll tell you what... My Berg was a ***** to start when I got it but after stripping and re-building the carb (new needle and needle jet) to standard settings, setting the valve clearances and charging the battery, its never missed a beat.

oldberger

Yeah when Splat comes back... I don't see how we're going to tow-start each other's bike if it's the two of us only. Unless I kickstart his first.
