hard shifting

Read in the doc about a burred up shift plate. My berg is getting grumpy shifting from hi to low gears. Just pull the cover, shifter/plate and file the uglies? Man that water pump seal has lasted like 70hrs or more, I guess it is time for some tlc.

Anyhow, is it a straight forward job once I'm in there?

yes

and clean all the thread up on the central screw through the shift plate into your left case. loctite it REALLY well.
