I was just reading over the FAQ. Glancing through the valve adjustment section, I noticed:

20•Now, you will need a 10mm box wrench or better yet, a wrench like Grok made, which is shown here.

I checked Grok's gallery, and nothing. Anybody got ideas? I have noticed that a normal box/open combo wrench leaves a bit to be desired when gapping valves.

Wow, I'm impressed. Fancy tools. Has anyone tried the tappet tool? Is it worth the $43 it costs?

I have one and love it. makes adjustment a snap. I think I only paid around $28. If you do a valve adjustment often then it is cheap compared to your time IMHO. It was worth the cost to me. I found it hard to get a screwdriver that was short in there and hold it .

i like to get the engine breather, plug lead and sometimes the radiator hose out the way.

i then use my snap-on stepped combo spanner along with an old £1 screwdriver i have that you can pull the 'rod' out and turn flat-blade or philips. it really is a doddly.

the only thing i've ever had go wrong is that on some new rockers the tappet thread had a tight spot and i didn't tighten enough with disasterous consequences for the rocker cover.

I made a new style wrench

Here it is, you'll notice the alternating colour on the index marks to make the 1/8 turn easy to find.

Yo Grok,

I just adjusted mine today, what a pain in the *** with a crapsman screwdriver and comination wrench!!! I wish I had one of those tools you got!

Did you make that yourself?? It looks personal!

PS- Do you ahve a problem still of holding the tappet "in position" while tightening the nut? Mine always creeps, or should I say, increases the gap. I'm starting to get the feel now, but.....

I certainly did, with a bit of cold rolled, an 8 mm six point socket, a piece of screwdriver pressed into a little knurled bit which I cut the index marks into. I guess I should post my handy-dandy motor-stand pictures next.

do my eyes deceive, or are you switching wrenches :)

Grok sir,

Two things. First, you should hang out with us more often. I don't see you around much anymore.

Secondly, that sir, is not the same wrench I once had a picture of :)... You sir, are refining tools, and not sharing them with us!

thanks,

Feel free to move any pics I post to my gallery though! Oh yeah,Congrats on the Husaberg!
