Hi folks, just picked up a 2003 FE501 and getting my head round it. Ive got all the info I could from the husaberg site (owners, parts, workshop manuals).
So ive not really had proper go over the bike other than 2 kicks to fire it up (Im ok with a left boot as Ive had rotax and husqvarna in the past!!)
reading in the book it has 3 decompressors... the owners manual doesn't really explain how they work or when to use the manual one on the clutch lever mount.
there is a switch on the throttle side labled Hi/Lo ive followed the wiring diagram but even with 20years in the electronics industry I cant work out what it does.
any tips on how to get the battery out as it needs replacing.
finaly how many links should the chain be for a 15/47 set up.

Many thanks... no doubt ill be after more as I begin to delv deeper!!

Im fairly new. Hi low is ignition curve, hi power/ lower power. Battery, I found remove the battery box with the battery by removing top shock bolt and the rear wheel splash guard. I'm no expert on the decompression but I did find out the auto on the cam needs to be functional for the e start. My .02$

Like Kayeffess says, easiest way to take out battery is together with box, when you take down upper bolt of shock apsorber. Once I take it out without removing shock (between shock and engine and then on left side out) but I really don't know how I do this 8O 8O

Cheers guys!!

I figured the shock would need to come free (im learning quick with this type of bike now :) ) I hadn't thought to look at the 2002 stuff... thats the bike I have, so it was put on the road here in the UK towards the end of 2003.

Im in 2 minds as to stripping it, blasting and coating the frame, full service etc OR just drop the oil/filters put air in the tyres and get out and use it!!

Pete

Am i being stupid but is the starter soleniod really just 'shoved' between the 2 metal plates on the back of the starter and held with a cable tie?

Thanks for that, I found a pic on the net, mine is missing that and the big cover. Not to worry, cable ties and squishy foam have sorted that issue :)

Im close to getting MR Grinder out though.... No plug spanner i have will fit between the rocker shaft castings in the head :( Dont panic though... Im not going to grind my tools up ill take it off the head HAHAHAHAHA.....

Just trying to recover the battery with the charger... its a YTZ7S Yuasa thats fitted.... its more than a new battery for my Landrover at £90.... Is this the correct one? Looking at the specs it has 130CCA which i know is a lot but I have been spinning it over (ok it killed the battery after 8 starts) with an NSR125 which is a CTX5L-BS but only cost £25

Cheers
