Jedi made a comment on the post about the Cycle World test to the effect that maybe he put too much effort into grass roots efforts. I don't fully understand all that he was trying to communicate with that statement, but it got me thinking.
Why did us H'berg owners buy a berg? Myself, I bought my first 'berg back in '92 after reading a review in a rag and racing against David Rhodes ('91 ISDE Junior Team winner) in off-road races. I went back to a 2stroke in '92 for better race support and a consistant parts supply. From '94 to '02 I convinced a few riders to get 'bergs because they made riding very fun and made a "hero out of a zero" in the woods, dispite the mixed review of the mags. One of the riders got a bike that wouldn't stay together and was convinced that I was satans helper, the others were thankful for the advise. I am currently riding a 'berg again and know of 3 others in my immediate area on 'bergs that love them.
Point is that Jedi is right in that currently most sales of 'bergs are from word of mouth and most importantly by riding a friends bike, thus grass roots support is still were BMG's biggest efforts need to stay. Keep the current owners happy so that we can build a strong legion of 'berg owners rather than the shotgun approach of wining and dining the rags to get a good review.
