The hand belongs to friend Willie McCoy. As Terry Poovey, Willie is one tough Texan.

Willie taped his hand back together finishing out the main event prior to heading for the hospital.


You gotta be tough to play this game.

With all due respect to McCoy's toughness, bravery and eagarness to "Run in the Main"; I believe an injury like that may have and could affect his ability to race his bike safely!! Thus jepordizing the other racers. What do you think?

Hi Mackberg,
Considering Willie went on to place fourth in said main event I must say for the record "I think you are wrong" :D

Take a look @ his competition and let me know if you still believe his ability was impaired.

Note:
Willie never did crash. Going low in an effort to avoid hitting another rider he caught his hand on the guard rail.

"Hi everybody. My hand looks worse than it really is. It has never really hurt at all just bled alot. Dr. Keifer was at the track and took care of me all day. We tried to get stitches from the hospital so he could stitch me at the track, but they wouldn't give us stitches. I hope the picture didn't gross anybody out too bad. If it would have hindered my ability to ride safely I wouldn't have rode. It did not prevent me from holding on to the handle at all. Thanks for everybody's concern about me, but I am ok. Lets all keep Terry in our prayers so he can heal up and get back home.
