I was supposed to ride this past weekend with a really good friend. got a call late last night that he had to take a ride on a life flight helo. he had a head on at high speed with a pine tree. split his helmet open and fractured his skull. no busted neck thank god. my bro busted his neck on a M/C when we were kids. Tense hours these have been...medication induced coma at this point.

Don't know what he was doing... he is an A class rider (AMA) get offs are unusual for him.

I will pray for and with anyone, anytime. Your friend is in my prayers. Keep us posted. God is good. And all things work together to that end.

Head and spinal injuries are the worst to hear about. Speedy and complete recovery are my thoughts and prayers for him.

Well, I guess the helmet did a good job of what it was supposed to do. It dissipated almost all of the impact force. he wound up with a basilar skull fracture, two Fractured neck vertebrae, a fractured arm, and LOTS of soft tissue bruising and such. he is being monitored for brain swelling but he has no brain damage that they can tell as of yet.

I guess he was going about 50 MPH and lost it in a deep mud hole. the bike stuck fast and he went flying into a downed tree on the side of the trail. he is usually at leas 2-3 minutes ahead of us when we ride and when the other guys got there he was about 20 feet from his bike which was basically still standing up in the bog and it was 4-5 minutes before they could get him to respond with even a moan. It took almost an hour for the helo to get there. and my other friends said they seriously thought he was going to die right there. they used some faith and said a few prayers.

they said they did not have to remove his helmet because it was broken so bad it basically just fell of when the medics got to him.
