I'm looking at buying my first Husaberg tomorrow. I really don't know the bikes or their possible shortcomings except that they use top-quality parts and are now being distributed by KTM. Here's the skinny on the bike...

2001 Husaberg FX470. Bike is in very good condition with over $2000.00 in Upgrades done in 2 years.

Engine Updates: Rewound Ignition,electric starter,decompression lever,cam chain tensioner,cam chain,cam sprocket,cam bearings,rocker arms.

Whats been added:
Rekluse auto clutch,kehin fcr carb w/ boyesen quickshot,dr. d hotstart lever,G2 throttle cam,panoram ODO w/billit protector,acerbis handguards,ufo headlight,acerbis taillight,rear fender tool bag, yusa YTZs battery,radiator guards,rear disc guard,wheel bearings,heated grips,steering damper mount,New oring chain and sprockets, new rear chain guide,new rear tire,new air filter.

Still has the Orignal graphics and plastic is in good shape with few scratches but nothing broke or cracked. No rips in seat cover. This bike is ready to ride!

Can anyone tell me a little more about the bike? Possible flaws to look for? Is this the great deal I think it is? Thanks to any 'Berg experts who can help me out there

Hi Pro, sounds like a good deal to me. I have the 02 model and love it. The needed upgrades to the valve train are done and there are some extra goodies as well. This bike should prove to be reliable and fun. Just remember to change the engine oil often, and keep a clean air filter in it. Enjoy.

Are you two fooling with us? One posts asking if the bike is a good deal, but neglects to post the asking price, and the other person tells them it's a rocking deal? :D

thanks,

If I could sell mine at that price (and I have even more goodies than that), I'd be happy. And mine is a 2001 FE 501. (I removed the last "e" for the reason you can imagine).

Nice. My first post here and I blow it. :( That is the exact bike and price of $2850 ( I thought for sure that was included the first time). I ended up getting it for $2500. Everything works well and all I can say is after my first ride today is I LOVE IT!! :D

This bike is 70 lbs lighter than what I was riding on trails and with an auto-clutch it makes things a breeze. As far as the counterbalancer goes, I seemed to find on here that it's more of a problem on the bigger displacement bikes than the 470. I asked him about it and he said the same thing. I'm not going to sweat it, but I'll keep an eye on it. As far as the overall bike, I actually want to ride now rather than get dragged along because I'm riding a boat anchor. This thing is amazing. Hope to see another Berg out there one of these days!

Hey, great deal man! Mine's an '01 470 and I love it!

Take care of it and enjoy the tar out of it.

thanks,

If it has an auto-clutch, indeed you got it for a very good price.

Did you tell you what other upgrades he made? There are a lot, my friend...

I hope you will enjoy your 2001 and you might hate it at times but never forget the joy it is to ride.

Top of my head for upgrades...

Rocker arms, cam chain tensioner, cam chain, cam sprocket, cam bearings, 501 starter, Yuasa gel battery, decomp, rewound stator... plus all the extra goodies. I'm going to give the guy a call because the bike makes a funny tweety bird sound like a stock KLR exhaust (normal?) so I can verify what else was done if another one is suggested.

I know about the counterbalancer that hasn't been done. What else am I missing?

As I was riding it sounded more like towards the intake, but I might be wrong. Need to investigate it more. What would be the difference between the two?

I tawt I taw a puddy tat !
Haven't heard mine make that sound yet. I'll keep an ear out. :D

Are you kiddin' Coastie, if you havent heard that noise, you have got either a bad airfilter or a bad battery in your hearing aid!

it sounds like someone blowing gently through a sports whistle. can usually be heard right up untill the exhaust noise cancels it out (about 3000rpm).

Azza.

Hey schwim, maybe..just maybe, I recognized the bike from an add I saw...just maybe. It's bad enough being big fat and ugly..stupid might push me over the edge. LOL, love ya man! As for the chirpin noise, I am of the opinion one needs the FCR carb for that, mine just snorts out the pipe.

Well, it's not exactly a tweety bird for everybody. I don't want to tell you what it sounds like to me or you'd think I really am too perverted.
