Thanks Kraig,
I really appreciate you posting this. I spent a fair amount of time growing up in "P" ville. I even went to school there for a semester in Jr. High, and a semester in High School @ El Dorado High.
I have/had family living there for many years. In fact, my uncle was the mayor of "P" ville for a couple of years in the late sixties. My Aunt & Uncle lived right across from Marshall Hospital on Rowland street. And, my parents lived there just after the end of WWII. My grandfather owned a Western Auto store there too. My Dad's hunting buddies lived in and around "P" ville, one owning the Jeep dealership there, Babe Martin was the Sheriff of Amador county and lived in Sutter Creek.
I used to spend most of my vacations there as a young guy. It sure is allot different today, when I was growing up there the town had a population of about 5 or 8 thousand. Now, I think it's up to 35 to 50. I can't imagine what main street is like at rush hour now, as back then it was bad.
My cousin and I used to explore the many mines that were left over from the Gold Rush days. The thought of that now makes me shudder as we used to use candles as a light source, what a bunch of idiots!!
I just got news yesterday that the back ordered head for my street legal 501 came in last week and the motor is being assembled as we speak. So if UPS can manage to not wreck my motor in shipping again, maybe I'll make it up there for this event.
Thanks again for posting,
