Just got my second berg 2005 fs 650.
Much excite been wanting this bike for 10 years just have to sort out the overheating problems then i can give it a caining. The 2007 fe 550 works replica was previously the most powerful dirtbike i have ridden tthen it was the husky 610. Cant wait to geel the 650 berg.

Havent had anything to do with the 70 degree engines how do they stack up next to the 2005-2008 motors? Maintenance and reliability etc?

Thunderbird 1700 is a fantastic machine.
The 3rd bike in the collection is 2007 675 street triple love for the triumphs

I've only test ridden one and the rest is from observation:

1. Power is close enough not to matter. But the 70 degree feels sophisticated and the technology shines! Lacks the awesome brute force and substantial whirr of the bits and bobs in the six fitty, but it's NO PUSSYCAT. The 570 flat hauls the groceries!

2. Reliability - others can attest better, but the reviews I've seen on this board give it almost DRZ reliability. There are some issues that were easily addressed (upgrade fuel pump and score a "70 degree" tank if possible - and some other minor stuff).

3. Absent a winning lottery ticket - it's my next bike. Hell, even with one, it's one of my next bikes ;)

Arguably better than DR-Z reliability :) You don't have to glue the motor together before you ride it :) (The fabled "Loctite fixes".)

The 'Berg stator is also free of tendencies to self-mutilate.

The DR-Z legendary reliability is a funny thing :) It's reliable, if you stick your head in the sand regarding, oh, just a few internal motor issues that will throw your countershaft sprocket off or unleash fun little bolts inside the motor cavity at speed. Wheeeee!
