Getting stuck piston out

Hey guys, newcomer here.

I bought a -04 fe650 and it came with 6 piston beringer and 310mm solid disk, only problem is that the previous owner grinded the caliper so it would fit the 21" wheel without binding.

It got too narrow and now it has a crack on the opposite side of the piston. Now I have take the pistons out, brake fluid/grease is no-go since it's leaking and cant push the pistons with pressure, is there any trick to get them out without damaging the seals?

If I can't fix the caliper, is it possible to fit a 310mm disk with a caliper designed for 320mm disk?

you can try taking the bleed nipple out ... and using compressed air to blow the piston out.

The air would probably leak out the crack, it's a small crack, not sure if I can get enough pressure to push the pistons, I'll try that in the weekend and see what happens.

If not air works see if it you can do it with water. Connect it to the a tap and you will get a few bar with water pressure. But I think compressed air will do just fine.

Just wacht out with the compressed air, take a rag or something to catch the piston, as the can come out with some (huge) speed :p

Air did the trick, had about 4 bars on the compressor and just feathered with the air and the half of caliper in a vice so the pistons would come all together.

What is the best way to seal the crack? It's on a corner on of a piston on the side, it's aluminum, I heard the thin aluminum (ex-owner grinded it so it would fit 21" wheels :( ) could easily collapse when welded. My dad said I should clean the caliper, then heat it and push solder on the crack so it would seal it but I'm not too sure it would hold up. Would a metal epoxy hold it together, the crack is pretty small.

I wouldn't risk using epoxy.
Grind the crack open en try welding it.
Hopefully the holes for your pistons stay within spec.
I would just toss the thing and stay safe.;)
