I have seen in thumpertalk people doing things.........to their husabergs before riding them. Why? I have seen people talking about removing balls in the gas cap, vent line, putting tape on things......... I am just curious as to why. I am snowbound and have not yet ridden my new husaberg and would like any information avaliable.

What model Husaberg we riding big fella?

With the new 2009 - 2011 models this is what is being said on UHE:

It seems to be an issue with boiling fuel

Engine Crankase Vent mod in this post. I have not done this mod as I don't have a problem. Think I need to ride harder

Wiring down near the rear shock rubs against frame.

Davo.

You'll need to ride it to see if you need these mods or not really. I haven't done anything to my 2010FE450 yet, just barkbusters. All depends on how/what/where you ride if you'll need to worry about boiling fuel, vent lines, etc. I have boiled my bike over once, but I was doing something stupid. I plan to get a fan anyway, because i'll be riding in the heat this summer.

If you're looking for something to do, I'd wrap your header pipe, it'll save you some pant legs and reduce heat. While you're in there, adjust the free play in your throttle cable, or better yet, install those blue cables with inline adjusters in the vendor forum.

I am a prowd owner of a 2010 fe 450. i havent done a thing to it besides start it in my basement and look at the 7 foot tall snowbank in my driveway. I was thinking of putting a horn on it and try to get street legal with the bare minimum. I would like any input you may have on this model . I am a long time 2 stroke guy, my last 4 stroke was an 85 xr 250. so.. I was going to buy an exaust heat shield, maybe stiffer springs I am 205 in my pjs. I guess i will ride it and see,but any input on your set up would be helpful.

Welcome to the world of all things Husaberg. Look for a used 8.0/250 rear spring from KTM. Should be about right for your weight plus gear less PJs. If you do allot of woods riding ya might want to leave it on the softer side and add a fan kit.
Cheers

I just installed a used 8.4 rear spring, and it may not be stiff enough for me. I weigh 202 lbs without gear, ~230 with gear. In order to get the race sag down to 105mm I had to decrease the static sag to 22mm. Is that going to be a problem for me.

But relative to the previous post, an 8.0 spring may not be enough for 205 w/o gear.
