I also went the SicAss approach. I probably could have done it myself for less money IF I knew what I was doing - but I didn't. I was very pleased with the SicAss kit. I also got a keyed switch. The main kit includes the front and rear wiring harnesses that plug into the existing main harness.
I used the standard front blinkers and they mount right up. The headlight/front fender brace has mounting holes already in place.
I had three challenges with the installation:
1) The rear plate light was a little tricky because the rear fender is V-shaped. The double sided tape didn't work, so I ended up taping it to the top of the tail light. I also had to add some length to the rear blinker wires so that I could route them out of the way of the rear tire if I bottom out.
2) The horn. It took quite a while to settle on a good location for the horn. The instructions suggest mounting it to the headlight, but I didn't feel good about mounting something that heavy to the screws in plastic. I ended up mounting it to my radiator guard.
3) The key switch. There is virtually no room to install the key - anywhere. So I ended up making a mini dash board that holds my key switch, grip heater switch (and indicator LED), and my home made map switch. I am not 100% satisfied with it, but it seems to work.
I took a lot of photos along the way and ended up doing most things at least twice before I was happy. My photos are here:

When I bought my FE450 I was not planning on getting it plated - but then I learned how close it was - it comes with front/rear brake lights, hi/low beam headlight, horn button and harness. All I had to do was add the horn, blinkers, plate holder & light, and a mirror. I am very pleased with the result.
Oh, and I modified the headlight so that I could aim it done to hit the road. The stock design lights up the trees. There are instructions on KTMtalk on how to make the mods.
