Getting 450FE 2006, what i need to know?

Hi, new to this forum!

Planning to trade my -01 250EXC to -06 450FE. But i cant find too much information about those..

What do i need to know about these? How reliable the engines are and so on? How much power does the 450FE have?

They're reliable if taken care of! Power is on the order of 45RWHP I think? I don't remember having seen clear dyno figures. The power curve is beautiful, very linear. Has a comfortable heft at the bottom kind of like a good knife, and then spins faster and faster, builds power endlessly and the the horizon warps like the strong acid kicking in too fast.

Good bikes. Not DRZ reliable, but also not DRZ slow or low spec.

Not nearly as high strung as the 650, not as fast as the 550, seems more reliable than either of them. It's sort of the baby bear if the 650 is Poppa Bear and the 550 is Momma Bear.

Still, it will treat you only as well as you treat it. Very regular oil changes, valve adjustments and overall care will reward you with a seriously fun bike. Treat it like a DRZ and it will pop.
