I had a full days riding last week with this bodge!

I guess the original lever had been bent in and out one too many times.

we found a small strip of aluminium kinda railing, we pushed it through the footrest and then bent it too and fro till we snapped it at the length we wanted, tapped the end closed, 4 zip ties later and it was good for a whole days riding!

anyone done something similar!

LOL! David's new super dupa Gearshift was found wanting on his very first ride.....

this was told to Me by a friend riding an Enduro he a got a rear flat. Had no way to fix it so he remove the tube and filled the tire with small tree branches , pine cones and the like. He completed the Enduro that way.

LOL!

I'm amazed there aren't a few more tales. I've got home with so many crazy bits and bobs!

My best was a KTM that stopped dead with no spark. My mate and I were sweep riding so it was going to become painful as one of us would have to ride a hundred or so klm's and return with a truck.

We poked around a bit to no avail. I walked away and lit a smoke and watched my mate and the owner start to strip the bike apart. Half way through my smoke I had an epiphany, I walked back over to the bike, flicked the headlight switch a few times, hit the starter and she fired up. The pair of them just looked at me in a mixed emotion of disbelief and relief.

"he's the mesiah!"
"no he's not, he's a very naughty boy!"

good one!

I've used bubble gum to keep a battery lead on when I was 17. chewing gum over here is rare but my pillion was one of those rare users. same trip: we also couldn't see where we were going as the headlight would vibrate around and 'dip' was guiding aircraft into heathrow, so every half mile I had to wet my finger at 60mph and roll the headlight back around!

On a recent ride I broke the foot pad on my rear brake pedal clean off. Scavanged my fanny pack and found a spare rear brake pad which I screwed on to the lever and I was good to go for the rest of the weekend.

Many years ago I snapped my shift lever off. Had a small pair of vise grips in my fanny pack that I clamped on to what was left of the lever and that was good enough to get me out of the woods without much drama.

Told to Me don't know if true but here go's Malcolm Smith was in a race lost engine oil. He patched hole in engine don't know how and He used the oil from one fork leg for the engine completed the race. If true pretty cool.
