I have just purchased a brand new 2010 fe570 and i am running it in my first impresion is the gearing is way to low and in saying this i have just come from a 2008 fe650 which has excellent standard gearing i have read all the gearing post the rinding i do is mostly open tracks with yhe occasional tight track just wondering what the best gearing that people are using i would like to sit on 120-130km/hr without it srceaming any thoughts and sprocket sizes would be greatly appreciated to try as i dont really get much out of the old post and surely people would have tried a lot of different gearing options as time has gone by

I went to a 14 tooth on the front. It seems to work great for everything I do. We have everything from tight to wide open here.

The stock gearing is good for 160 km/h full noise, I'd go for 14 48 if I wanted to travel and still have some sort of trottle response when it tightened up. Hell if you dont ride trails at all why not go 14 38 :D

Man 160Kmh on a dirt bike and you need higher gearing
Where can you get that speed up on a dirt road and how do you stop it at the next corner? I remember passing my mate on the tar, quick glimpse at the speedo 130Kmh. The last thing on my mind was, "Gee I must remember to pick that 14 front sprocket up next time I'm at Sutto's, this 570 is just so noisey and slow" :D
Do your mums know your riding that fast? :D

Hey davo my mum has a H-D sporty and leathers to match, she just laughs at my "little dirt bike " 8)

160km on standard gearing it must be screaming my 650 would top out at 176km with standard gearing but could cruise at 130-140km with out it screaming in the end i dont want to gear it to high and lose the bottom end punch either i might try a 14 front sprocket like berger has sugested and go from there in the end its not about the top speed if i want to go fast ill just take my turbo charged suzuki gsx1300r hayabusa out for a spin on the sreet to get my speed fix

Give Phill Watts from Flinders MC in Port Pirie SA. He has sold a lot of 570's and he recommends a change i the sprocket (front and rear) but for the life of me I can't remember the combo ?

In stock trim it's fine for me as I do a lot of tight single track and not a lot of high end riding.

cheers eyspy i will give him a call thats where i got mine from last monday lucky to get one as he said it was the last 570 husaberg australia had in the warehouse and thats it for the 570 until the 2011 hits our shores have only done 75km on it but allready love how it handles

I have a 12 tooth front with the stock rear (52).

I like it that way because I suck at riding and I ride slow on technical tight track, but I do need to ride pavement to get there. I can cruise along at 65 MPH (indicated) fine, but over 75 MPH it is buzzing a bit. I can hit 90 MPH indicated and the bike is still accelerating so there is plenty of top end. I don't need to go that fast so I have not tried to find the top speed.

So, I would think that a 14 tooth front should be plenty for most people - but I guess it depends on how and where you ride.

Also, whilst you are there ask him about the airbox mods. The demo model he had in last year (09 model) had a series of holes drilled around the lip of the airbox which gave a supposed 5 more HP. I havn't done it on mine as I am happy the way she is, but if you are chasing more power this is FREE and easy.

I'll second Berger's thoughts here........

From what it sounds like you're doing the 14/52 would be a good choice. You'll loose some snap, but the power band will be broad and smooth, and will definitely having you cruising at your desired 130kph without any drama's.

This bike is not going to pull on top like your old 650. Gazza and his gang were having some trouble getting the top speed out of their 09 rally bikes, compared to their older 650's. Bushy put a great gearing/rpm/tire chart that was really helpful, that I have attached here.

I have put in my own gearing of 13/50, and tire size of 110/100, and the primary ratio of the new bike. It's a great tool. You can put in your stock ratio of 13/52, with a 130/80 rear tire at 7500 rpm you'd be at 136kph. Just plug in some in different numbers and you can see where you are going to be rpm wise and gear ratio wise.
