gearbox detent arm spring

has anyone used a stiffer detent spring or played around with the profiles on the shift star ?

ours seem like the spring is weak (comparitavley) and since its the spring that actually shifts the gears and nor our big foots at all 8O a stronger spring seems like a good idea.

then there is the shape of the star ours are very pointy compared to others that have a double curve with a flatter point. maybe thats why our spring is softer?

our detent arm is pretty flimsy the star is rough as guts punched out from flat plate and and the detent bushing and end roller are wobbly even when new.

some bikes come new with a roller bearing on the end of the arm and there are some aftermarket trinkets for roadbikes from factorypro that look nice.

Im going to play around with a spare gearbox and cases use stronger spring, regrind the star and put a bearing on the detent arm

just wondered if anyone allready did summink like that

cheers

i would have thought that you don't need a stronger spring if you use a softer profile?

as i'm aware bushie nobody here has played.
