Gear/Drive train noise - new owner

Hi All,

Just purchased my first Husaberg (07 FE450) and was a little worried about some gear\drive train noise. I have read some other threads which say this is normal, something to do with straight cut gears or something?

What I am experiencing is when travelling down a road in any gear a metallicy lashing noise comes from the left hand side of the engine. If you are doing about 50klms and pull in the clutch the noise stops until you get to about 20klms it starts again (with clutch still pulled in).

Other than that the bike performs brilliantly.

I have been riding new 1000cc road bikes for the last 10 years and am not used to hearing much in the way of engine noise.

Any advise appreciated,

Mal.

Hi Mal,
I don't think you have anything to worry about, Whilst accelerating (in the correct gear) I'm sure you have no lashing noise. Normally the noise you hear is when cruising along a firetrail/road linking trails is chain slap on the top swingarm runner due to being in a tall gear. I get this comment a little at the shop but when explained it makes sense.
Let me know how you go.
Best Regards
Sutto

check the rear chain for tightness otherwise it's as normal.

my riding buddies can always tell when its my bike coming around a corner. most bergs do have a unique sound due to the gearsets used.

Thanks for the feedback, sutto got it right on the nose.

I am sure I will get used to it once I get out bush and have a good ride now the 3 hour service is out of the way.

Thanks.
