Gas tank sizes for 2008 FE 450

Ok this should be an easy one for you Berg gurus, (although I have SEARCHED everywhere to find it). WHat does the stock 2008 tank hold? What does the aluminum race tank hold? I have both, bike used for GNCC racing. I only have an hour meter on it and want to get an idea how far I might get it I take the bike on trails. Rode it yesterday on deep sand trails and was able to run for 1.5 hours on the alum tank.

Oh and another Q, any benefit to adding Taffys reserve style petcock to one side? Thanks everyone, Colleen
 
in europe its 7.5 litres same as the alu and 10 litres everywere else, just to add still looking for a alu tank.
 
SWsupermoto, wow that's better than I thought! I figured the stock plastic tank at about 8.5 liters.

Also, I don't really need the alum tank since I'm not racing it, if you're interested let me know.
 
That would be 2 and 2.4 gallons respectively for the American conversion. 3.75 liters per gallon.

As for the reserve, that's personal preference I suppose. Personally I have never used the reserve function on any of my bikes that came with it. In fact, I usually take the in tank filter off and just run and inline filter to the carb, that way all the fuel is available, as the in tank filter a lot of times has a 1/4" or so of solid material before the filter material begins.

However, if you want the reserve function I'm sure Taffy's reserve will be an excellent choice.

Before you sell your tank you should ride with stock tank. I have the same omero tank love it. The stock tank is pretty wide. If you go on ebay search husaberg gas tank a new stock 06 tank will come up a great price.
 
Well I'm fortunate to have both the Omero tank and the stock tank.

Good point about trying the stock tank before considering parting with the Omero alum tank. Since all I have is an hour meter I'm trying to guage how long I can go on trail riding. On the indoor MX track I'm great with alum tank...get too tired to ride out a full tank without stopping!
 
I have the petcocks with reserve.I do 40 mile on the small tank. If you have WEC bike with out a battery and estart it easy to get the Husaberg under seat tank to double you range. If you bike has the battery you can see how to move the ignition in Baja racer gallery.
 
Number9, well I love my estart and it does have the battery. It's wonderful to hit the button instead of kicking it over and it works well.

How many miles do you guess is remaining after you go on reserve? is this 1 or 2 petcocks? Some trails in my area can get pretty long...specially if ya get lost! :cuss:
