Gas Mileage

I have a 96' FC600 I bought new, raced it for years (and have never had an oiling problem) I put a dual sport kit on it last fall, and the gas mileage is not that great, I was wondering if anyone has one of the older bikes and rides it on the street, can you tell me what kind of mileage you are getting, I would appreciate it. Thank you!!!

35-50mpg casual riding.
Sounds like you may have a worn out slide needle and needle jet.

Thank you berger, but there both good, I've gone threw the carb twice in the last month and a half hoping to find something but its all good, I put a new spark plug in last week but its been to wet to ride and there calling for rain through next weekend, its going to be a long seven days.

I don't think I get very good gas mileage eather. 2006 FE550. Minimal back-fireing.

I've gotten around 80 miles on the 9 liter tank with my 05 650. That's about 35 mpg. This was with 50/50 dirt and street. I recently did a 85% dirt 15% street at a descent pace and got about 30mpg as it was about a 62 mile ride and I went through just over 2 gallons. (2.06)

So if your offroad spinning the back tire in the dirt you probably can look for at least 10 miles less on a tank of gas compared to cruising . This was in my case anyway with the 9 liter on the 650. You may even get less miles dsepending on conditions ,like riding in sand.
