GAS-LEVEL SENSOR problem on 2010 FE450

Hi there,

there is a GAS-LEVEL SENSOR on the back of the fuel tank of FE450. Mine is broken (brown wire damaged).
I have ordered a new one (PN is 58207080100, it is a KTM part), but electric plug does not match with the cable coming from the EFI block.
1) did anyone replace the GAS LEVEL SENSOR?
2) Does anyone have an Electric diagram of 2010 FE450?
3) any other tips, like disconnecting this sensor
4) what is the function of the sensor?

thank You,
B

According to my parts list you have the correct part number for the gas-level sensor. But I can't find it on the wiring diagram. But I think it tells the ECU the fuel is low so it can turn on the low fuel indicator light. If that is all it does, it should be safe to ride without it.

According to the wire diagram usually the brown wire is connected to ground.

Seems weird that the connector is wrong. But the parts list indicates it is a "new part" even though the part number is a 2006 part. Perhaps the manual is wrong.

I just checked my gas level sensor (since I have my tank off). The wire looks orange to me rather than brown.

There is good info in this post:

Wiring looks like this:

according to my memories the following colors are:

1) on the GAS-LEVEL SENSOR: black and orange
2) on the cable behind the tank: brown and brown/red.

So how should I connect?

I will check tonight everything and make photos. We are on track :bounce3:
