Gas Gas VS KTM

Can someone tell me what KTM model an EC 300 Gas Gas compares to?
There are a lot of test rides on the KTM's so it's easy to know which model is right
in regards to xc/exc/ec-w. Tanks in advance.

Well if this was the UK or Aus, i would suggest the KTM 300EXC would be the equivalent. Having owned both, then they seem to be comparable specification wise and both are supplied road legal in both these countries. Not going to get into which is best, as for me the KTM was a better race bike and the Gasser a better trail bike.

Loved the pair of them in their own ways, but my new FE570 spanks them all :lol:

Trapper

Here we have the XC and XC W. There is no EXC any more as that model has lights and signals, etc...the bike you sort of want. The Xc model has closed chamber forks and tighter trans and the button I think. The W has cushier suspension, non CC forks and a WR trans. Most guys like the XC version as the trans allows it to work much better in teh tight stuff, open trails are more the place for the W.

The 300 GasGas has the advantage of a six speed tranny. From what I understand, the overall ratio spread of the GasGas six speed is comparable to the overall spread in the wide ratio five speed XC-W (EXC) KTM's.

As mentioned the GG has a six speed, turns better and has a more linear power band. The only real downside is dealer , mfg support and lack of aftermarket parts and accessories.
