anyone ever measured this gap when the bike is in full compression between the shock resevior and the chain?

people talk of concerns over the chain hitting it?

hi Taffy,

had the problem on my 04 FC450. The chain scratched my shock. I made a bigger upper chainguide wheel which keeps the chain lowwer, that solved the problem.

I've seen marks on a couple of my bikes, but they alwasy accompany scuffs on the shock protector/flap from a loose, worn chain. I've never really worried about it, besides proper chain adjustment.

How serious of scuffs do you have?

just preparing myself for going to a schraeder valve in the shock resevoir. i need the shortest i can fit and even then it only has to be caught once and it's good night sweetheart!

the chain actually runs off centre and wouldn't ctch it directly. i'll have a think about it.

Don't do that Taff. You'll knock it off, and quick. Somewhere there are kits to install the rubber, needle type seal, like the ones Ohlin's uses. Harder to fill, but the needle kits are available for nitro filling. Back to the schraeder kit, a buddy had one of his shocks rebuilt and the guy installed one. He took it riding, and cursed the guy up and down as the shock was TERRIBLE, and he hated it. The work was gratis, so he couldn't complain, and swollowed his tongue for a couple rides. THen he noticed the shraeder missing and then the light bulb came on.
