Hey team I went good hard forest riding in the weekend to see how the girl would go,well pretty interesting, first of all the gearing was in the stratosphere so I dropped to a 12th front sprocket with a 51 on my spare ktm wheel,18 inch but also thinking of going back to the 52,but man did she boil up,I found any tight work was not ideal,so I'll replace the rad cap for a start as it does look a bit average, secondly I'll make up a fan kit to help out,( I've done this to other bikes and pretty easy) .
Does anyone have any great mounting ideas,I've always had rad braces on the other bikes so pretty easy onto them, the fx not so much so thoughts.

Also does anyone know where to get a bar mounted map switch like the trailtech 3 stage one I've drawn blanks,

Thirdly I got her on the mx track and she wasn't to bad ,a little bit of adapting over my 350 but not anywhere near as soft as I thought so the old girl keeps on chucking up surprises

12/ 51 seems REALLY low for a 450- like 250 4st gearing! I rode super tight gnarly stuff yesterday, over huge logs, things are super overgrown after all the rain here, on my 570 (I know it's a bit gruntier) with 14/ 48!!!!! I'd check for some other issue if it won't pull down low. But did the FX have different gearbox ratios? Not sure on that.
Rad cap super important, MUST be 1.8 or even 2.0, good quality Jap car one will do.
Must run Engine Ice or equivalent- normal coolant NOT as good.
Rad braces/ protectors a must for bush riding- they bend too easily just with a tip over.
I have a Trailtech map switch on my bike- can't tell the difference.

Cheers, the fx to my understanding has a taller first and the box is spaced for more xc racing riding, all the guys I was with were on full Enduro machines so just had that lower gearing.
Rad cap was my thought as well,I'll be looking at some rad guards once the budget allows I'm just tidying a few other things up first as she sat for 2 odd years
