I worked on getting my FE570 fuel pump shut down issue resolved this weekend.
I pulled the fuel pump and was shocked to see the amount of plumbing that was stuffed into such a small tank. There was at least 2 feet of 8MM flexible fuel line in there along with a large in line fuel filter.

So the question is: With such a limited fuel capacity, why did Husaberg stuff so much hardware in such a small tank? Can the fuel filter be moved to an external location? Has anyone shortened up the internal fuel lines?

The total volume of the material is negligibel imho. You have fuel inside the lines and the filter, so the lost volume cant be much.
And inside the tank it's all protected instead of having the lines exposed with a potential critical fuel leak.

reminds me of when Fi first got mentioned here. I said it wouldn't be the B all and end all that everyone hoped for. completely outnumbered as usual, a beautiful bike has got loads of issues and more to the point they can't be diagnosed over the internet.

at least with the old carb bikes you said 'spark and fuel' and that was it!

ho-hum, where are the people that said it 'will be flawless' now?

Yes no system is perfect. Personally I prefer FI :) Still spark and fuel. The problem solving is more digital on-off than feeling and experience. For sure there are more components but I would never trade, as long as the cables and hoses are connected and the fuel path free it starts and work regardless of temperature, air moisture or alignment of the planets!
