Got into my fuel reserve for the first time today on my 2011 570S. Read the manual when I got home to see how much fuel I really had. Manual says 'The marking 1 on the fuel level indicator points upward'. What does that mean??
 
The Fuel Level Indicator is mounted in the Fuel Tank and turns the Orange Low Fuel Light on differently, depending on the way it is installed:
The marking 1 on the fuel level indicator points upwards (as delivered) the light comes on when there is 2.8L of fuel left
The marking 2 on the fuel level indicator points upwards the light comes on when there is 1.8L of fuel left
 
Ok. I think I understand.
You can change the position of the sensor in the tank to have the reserve light to come on later (at 1.8L). Right?

Yes that is correct. I have never done it but there are a few people on UHE that have changed the position of the sensor.
