Fuel problem...

hi everyone...first post on this forum. I bought a brand new FE570S 2011 and rode it for the first time yesterday. Today I occur a strange problem... After riding 90 kms the bike wanted to stall like it were running out of fuel. The low fuel light never came on. Luckily (very) I was passing by a gas station. I actually put 5.4 litres of gas. 5.4 + 2.6 (claimed reserve) equals about 8 litres...so everything seem to be ok, but why did the bike was about to stall...is there a valve like the KTM that you have to switch in order to be on reserve???

thanks!

I can't explain what happened to you but there is no switch to go to reserve. I have the same bike. The light comes on and you hope you're close to fuel but you don't switch to reserve, it just alerts you (hopefully) with the light and then eventually you run dry.

What were the conditions (ambient temp, riding terrain, i.e. were you running HOT when this happened or just cruising?)

Thankfully I was on the street cruising just next to a gas station...I was just exiting the woods...talk about good luck. But if I understand, the fuel pump is on the rear end of the tank, right? If so, before my bike began to stall (on a bridge I must say) I had gone down a big hill (in the city)...is it possible that the remain gas went in the front of the gas tank and stayed there, thus making like I had no more reserve left???

Thanks!

Yes, it seems possible. I've read some other posts about guys who actually had gas in the tank when it "ran out." I say, do more wheelies and make sure the gas is in the rear of the tank. The tank design does look like it could hold gas up front making it act like it's empty before it is. Yes, the pump is at the back of the tank, right in front of the battery box above the shock mount. If it ever happens again, try a big wheelie and see if you don't get some gas to flow to the back.

Lots of place to hide gas in the tank, was very suprised when I drained all the old fuel out of mine. My bike had been at the dealer for about 1 year so I tossed the old fuel in favor of fresh.

I am currently having what seems like a similar problem only worse. I have a 2011 570 with 60 miles on it, 19 miles on the full tank. I was riding in the dessert and it just stopped running like it ran out of gas. the engine turns over fine but I can not smell any gas. I took off the air filter and tried to start it while looking down the intake and can not see any gas either. Called the dealer and they said the problem could be the fuel pump. they recommend hooking up a fuel gauge?? to see if has pressure. as anyone seen this problem before?
Thx

Does anybody have a step-by-step how-to guide on how to do wheelies on a bike that's stalled? I really want to read that. Thanks!

has anyone checked to see that your fuel filters aren't blocked up with the sludge that others have reported finding?
