Fuel line quick disconnect 570

Hello all,

I bought a used FE570 and I found a bit on the bike that looks a bit strange to me. Just beneath the tank is a fuel filter covered in aluminium foil to reflect heat. The place for this filter is just weird (above cylinder), seems to me that this would not be ideal for the fuel, to be stored above such a heat mass.

So after some research I discovered that on that place is a quick disconnect, not a filter. Since the original is very expensive (2 parts that both total to 60 euros), I was looking for aftermarket parts. I found this:

Hyspeed Fuel Gas Line Quick Connect Disconnect 1 4" ATV Motorcycle Dual Shut Off | eBay.

Seems to be the same, according to the manual. Can anyone confirm that? Thanks in advance!

There really is no other place to put an inline filter and i would personlly rather have a real filter than the screen that was in the factory conector. I see no reason to change your current setup. It is the way most people end up setup.

I have both. A quick disconnect is good to have as soon as you need to remove the tank (which I do way to often..). I moved the filter front of the cam chain tensioner and the quick disconnect a bit in. It's a little bit trickier to disconnect and connect but I learnt how to do it.

So I recommend to install the quick disconnect and to keep the filter.

And I see nothing wrong with the item you linked to.

Hmm okay, thanks for the responses! But isn't it kinda useless to have to filters? I believe the exact same filter is already in the tank? Or am I understanding this wrong?

Good point. It was 2011-12 that KTM started to install inline filters, so obviously they think it's needed. I took the ****** KTM filter away and installed a bigger one (super mini golan). Reason is to protect the injector from whatever **** I, by mistake, get in when I disconnect the fuel line (I put on protectors as soon as I disconnect), and to collect whatever is pushed through the in-tank filter. If it's the exact same filter in your line as in the tank I would skip it, or change it out to a 10 micron filter.

The bikes did work before KTM put in that extra filter (one could argue that they worked better..), so if I had to choose between a filter or a disconnect I would go disconnect and skip the filter. But as the injector has very fine holes and atleast with the dirty fuel where I live I prefer to have both. But I would never be without a quick disconnect!

Be careful with regular quick connect fittings. I tried 2 different brands and they couldnt handle the fuel pump pressure and spat fuel everywhere, as they were made for the carby gravity feed setup.
