Fuel Level

Hi everyone, I recently picked up my first Husaberg and am new to the forum. 2010 FE570. The two times I have ridden it, I stopped at the gas station about 1/2 mile from my house and topped off the tank - not spilling out, but about an inch from the top. When I go out to the garage the next day, the fuel level is much lower - maybe 3 or 4 inches below the top. Still visible when peering in the tank, but certainly much less than I had just put in it.

My first thought was evaporation, but the garage does not smell like gas and after sitting for a few more days, the fuel level remained unchanged. This bike does not have the subframe tank. The tank is tan-ish, not the dark grey one.

Anyone else experienced this? Thanks!

It doesn't have a Safari tank on it? That's exactly what happens with them, takes a while to transfer through the 8mm line that joins the tanks.

Or someone may have done a backyard subframe tank just joined with a connecting line into the fuelpump cover- I've seen one of those.

Thanks guys. Fortunately no leaks, unfortunately no sub-frame tank.

After a little more diligence and experimentation I think I improperly described the problem. For anyone reading this in the future investigating the same question, the tank is full at the station, but by the time I get home it is lower. It appears to be a function of how the tank is shaped and air getting trapped in the back/lower part of the tank, which you can see if you take the seat off at the gas station. On hard acceleration or steep uphill, the air "rises" to the top and the tank backfills with fuel.
