Hi All,
A few weeks back I noticed a drip every 20 to 30 seconds coming from the overflow on my FCR carb. It wasn't bad and I thought it was no brainer fix, replace the needle. I replaced the needle and the bike had sat for about 3 weeks. This weekend I was putting it all back together to go riding and I decided to check the drip fix. To my surprise it was worse!! When I installed the new needle valve I carefully checked the float level, and also checked the float level when I took it apart, everything was good.
So, I pull the carb off and start by re checking the float level, it's spot on. I then checked the seat itself with a bright light and a magnifying glass, it's all good. The next step was to remove the seat assembly. This assembly is sealed to the body with an O ring, and upon close inspection it appeared very flat. I decided to pull that little O ring off and have a look. Well, when I was just starting to push the seal pick in next to it, it immediately split in two. When I pulled it the rest of the way off and opened it up a bit it had tiny splits all the way around.
I checked with a buddy of mine who works at Scott's and he told me that he had just recently helped someone else with the exact same problem but it was on a PWK carb, still a Kehin and uses the same set up with the seat.
