Fuel filter sock

This on a FE570 the Fuel filter sock the one that go's into the tank fill hole only last Me about 4 months before it starts to clog. Is there a way to make them last longer at $30.00 a pop it's not cheep. Is there a way to clean it. Doesn't look dirty ? Thank You

if your filler neck fuel filter sock clogged up in 4 months you have bigger problems than the sock ..where are you getting your fuel or whats coming off your tank to contaminate it ? ...I've had one in for 2 years and its clean

Ive had one on my bike for 5000 miles and have never had to clean it

Being you guys Are not having the problem. I'm wondering if it might be California fuel it has different additives for smog reasons. Any one in California having the same problem ?

Try putting a small filter on the pressure relief hose on the gas cap. K&N and others make these. I doubt that the gas could matter, but I don't use pump gas that is over 2 weeks old - I put it in the truck.

What does the filter sock look like when it clogs? Can it be back flushed? I don't want to sound like Mr. Know It All, but are you certain that the gas cap pressure relief hose isn't twisted?

Good luck, and please let us know if you find a solution. I'd like to see some pics of the clogged sock as well.

I also use a sock for 2 years now I cleaned it a while back but still looked pretty good to me

Filter looks good ? Only small bits of dirt at very bottom of sock cleaned it out. The problem is filling the tank is very slow how. It looks like the sock is floating (bunching up at filler neck) if I put My fingers in to spread it out it helps. I'm going to try drying out the sock and then clean it (vacuum , blow out) this is the second one. with the first one I tried blowing in it and it blew up like a balloon in direction of flow reversed it blowing on it and that help it for only one fill. Like a million little check valves closed. How I'm starting to sound like a hippie ??? Fuel in the tank and the bike runs like a bat out of hell. No other problems with the bike.
