hey guys i have just bought a fs650e 05 model and the guy i bought it of said he had it jetted and the mixture screw changed. i was messing around with the tuning and noticed the mixture screw just pulls out of the carby. is this normal? and any tips on tuning would be great!

Thanks guys

Is it a red thumb screw with 1-4 printed on it? Thats the one i have. Hopefully the threads are not stripped in the carb, I doubt that's the case.

There should be a spring and a tiny o-ring on it as well. Perhaps the spring is missing? You will absolutely need that spring. That's probably why it fell out.

Screw it back in all the way, then back it off 2 turns for now. Iirc, it has adjustment range between 1/2 turn to 2-1/2 turns out. If it is'nt running right at those settings, a jetting change is in order.

its a blue thumb screw with 1-4 on it ye im guessing its the same.. na it has the spring and the o-ring but if u pull it, it comes out.. is this the same as yours? so anywhere from 1/2 turn to 2 and a 1/2 turns? but start at 2 full turns out from all the way in?

Yes, it depends on the jetting and altitude/temp ect, but 2 turns out from seated is a good place to start. Screw it out more to make it richer, screw it in to make it leaner.

If you screw it in all the way, it then it can be pulled out?

No, it's a screw... you really should pull your carb and see if it's stripped (the threads what the mixture screw goes into).
