FS650E - Flasher Unit Half-Life Period not more than 2 Days

Hi All,

after searching the forum (and according to my dealer) I found that I seem to be the only person whose Berg loves to kill flasher units. I am thinking about trying a full electronic part which cannot be destroyed by vibrations. Did anyone else have a similar issue before? Thanks in advance.

I have been using these since 01 on all of my ktm's and have never had a replacement on any of the eleven bikes I have owned , no problems on FE650

Are you using the mounting bracket part #582-11-031-100
Item 78 page 49
flasher unit 446-11-207-200
Item 7 page 48

These parts are for stock installation

Both part #'s are KTM/Husaberg ktm parts are cheaper for me

bracket bolted to the LH triple clamp hole, Under the Stckerboard

A short in the wiring can contribute to burned out flashers. Any exposed chafed wiring touching bare metal?

Are your bulbs burning out also?

Have you got rubbed or pinched wiring where the cables flex around the headstock? It might be an intermittent fault that is killing the flasher.

If you need an aftermarket mount, get a squash ball & cut a large hole in it that the flasher can persses tightly into. Mount it with a singe screw through the crown of the ball.

Thanks for all your quick replies. :)

Gee-bee, to which catalogue do your numbers refer to?

At the moment the flasher unit is just fixed at a bigger cable by a plastic strap. No mounting bracket is used.

The bulbs are not burning out. I just change the relais and at works for a while. The bike is in almost virgin condition (<1000km).

I will inspect all cables for an unwanted contact.

Thank you again.
