FS650c cutting out

I have already looked at the other posts & there's a few "maybes", but here's my prob if anyone has any ideas pls ?
1. - fs650 06 s/m bike cut out, spluttered, managed to nurse it about 1/2 mile then died. restarted OK after 15 mins while waiting for Mr AA but would not run at all under load. Honda dealership got it running again after checking over the wiring but with much mumbling.... been fine for 6 months. I told them about the orange wire but they said it was fine - something about a chafed wire under the tank ?
2. - yesterday, the same thing... it just cut-out, then restarted under momentum, spluttered & ran extr erratically for 100 yds then cut-out under load but would rev-out with no load. Fuel 1/2 full. After 15 mins re-started OK & ran in neutral & in first but under load, cut out again immediately. Got vanned home - went out to it this morning & the bastrd started first kick & now runs fine ! .... (but I'm a bit loath to go for a run after a very sweaty yesterday).
Now runs & Wheelies up & down the road like a good un - but this is getting on my **** now.
3. - BTW - had the EXACT same thing with my Yamaha 06 wr450F a couple of months ago - (revving out, but cuts-out under load) - aforementioned Honda garage said it was just a duff battery... WTF?? anyway, it's run fine ever since, so who am I to say?

any ideas? I'm very careful not to get crap in the fuel. Thanks Guys.

I don't think I've heard those symptoms before? least for a long while anyway....

I reckon it could be electrical still and be the coil. we would normally try the cheap stuff first: plug, plug cap. plug lead, coil.

it's good to swop bits - and cheaper!

I know it's not the same machine but I had the same thing happen to my old three wheeler. it would run great and then 15min later no power under load and then nothing. I would let it sit for a hour or so and then boom it would fire right up and drive perfectly. I found that it was a faulty coil, when it would heat up it would not produce a strong enough spark. just something to consider.

many thanks guys - I'll give those a try.
Taffy - I spoke on the phone with you at length once over suitable motors for a supermono project.
Advice much appreciated.
it all worked out really well with a honda xr650 motor in an aprilia rs250 frame...... just about the same time my back started telling me to get out of race reps. Doh !
It's supermoto all the way nowadays - if only I could teach myself to back it in & drift on public roads :D
love the berg though XX

OK - update = removed the tank & on the LHS could instantly see chafed wires - four wires red, blk, yellow, white, in a grey shroud emerge from the regulator/rect. into a white plastic plug. The whole bunch had been caught between the cylinder head corner & tank OR the jubilee clip (holding the cylinder head coolant hose) and tank - whatever - the idiots at the honda dealership had put the tank back on (or not noticed the chafing first time-round) & the grey shroud plus the wires inside were squished & cooked with small bare wire parts showing.
Put insulation tape carefully on all 4 & cable-tied the wiring & plug up out of harms way underneath the frame. If you left these wires just hanging it would be very easy to trap them when re-installing the tank. We'll see how it goes - but bare wires is never good news.
Found another slightly suspect yell/red wire on the other side of the plug & did the same.
Started up & ran fine for now - but I can also well imagine how my 16 stone landing numerous wheelies onto this wire trapped as it was between the tank & hot motor would cause problems. Also, aforementioned jubliee clip screw was gouging 2 deep holes into the LHS inner face of the plastic tank - rotated clip 1/8 th turn & fine now it's out of harm's way.
thanks guys. Ian
