hi, ive just got a fs650 e (2006) and just reading through the service manual and it states that i should check the valve clearance every 15 hours of use, along with the oil and filter change. Is this realy necisery and if so do you recomend i take it to a dealer to get done or do it myself ? thanks for your help

you can do it and yes you must do it. it's imperative!

when there is no change then all is good but usually there is something wearing and this is your pulse reading of your bikes wellfare!

Many change their oil at the end of each days riding. Preferably hot. Sludge tends to build up below the clutch.

After the first valve adjustment intervals can be extended a bit if you so choose.

13mm 6 point socket & a 4mm allen wrench is all you need . I pre soak my oil filter in fresh oil in a small like a shot glass .just so the oil pump can be sure to get oil asap anyway I change my oil & filter every 300 miles and it takes maybe 10 miniutes .
