front wheel issues.

That funny little race track at the bottom of the
Something is up with my front wheel.
Since cleaning up the inside of my motor (dvsk, bigger valves, match porting, a slight bump in compression, and sorting out the jetting with a Barret muffler) now if I use a bit of throttle in the lower 4 gears the front wheel wont stay on the ground! (to be honest the local cop has more of an issue with it than me).
I have been trying to find some heavier air (I tried water in it but that slowed down the steering too much).
I am running 15/40 gearing with an 18inch rear.... might have to go back to 16/40 (but then Im doin 80mph in top before it turns on, an the local c*ntstable sed he would take my licence off me next time he caught me doin those speeds on the back wheel).
Wot to do?

P.S. how do you peeps with 13 or 14th front sprockets get on?

hey Bro,

newzeelund cops seem to be very officous :? stay off the road dude

what about something with a bigger rear sprocket like 16/50 16/45 ? bigger sprockets last longer

gonna try a hc3015 or 8/33 ?

Strewth Bruce.... got enough truble as it is without adding more fuel to the fire!
as for staying off the road..... I put it on the road coz I couldn't find a big enough paddock to use the brute in.
Although I see by your pics that your paddock might sort out some of the issues, plenty of space too stretch your throttle cable by the looks.

With 700cc an a bigish cam there bushman, your knuckles must just about be dragging on the ground after a good session out back brother.
what kind of gearing you running there bushie? Them paddles must make for a largish rolling diameter yeah?

Correct me if im wrong but bushie purchased this bike through ORANGEBERG because i ordered more than they HUSA Aust could supply and i had the aces in the pack, i sent it to bushie and he supplied my pregnant wife with a bottle of OP Bundaberg rum as the sale was my last unit, i drank the rum and that was on Friday arvos, baby was good.
this bike is like by babies transformer toy it just keeps growing. I still drink rum
ORANGEBERG

Good job you sent it too him Orangebro, would have been a hell of a ride home from your place (would have been well run in!).

yes its a special bike my berg, I think its was the last 650 unit sold in Aust 8O

glad that bottle of OP went to a good home, would have sent 2 if I know she was pregnant :D I still can't thank John enough for sending me my transformer, its been an awesome machine, still complains to me daily that I put cheap Decepticon parts in the head, maybe thats why they came out all chewed up

gearing ideally with the 18" paddle I'm after a total ratio of 9.2 which is 3rd gear with 16/40 or 4th with 16/50

bummer is that 3rd and 4th are pissweak so I got a 53t rear dirttricks Ironman sprocket and try and get into 5th. I rate these sprockets very highly better than the chaingang ones.

its a great thing too have a lot of chain pull moment from the bigger back sprocket to combat all the Gs from the tourque and the paddle grip.

the diameter isn't that big because the profile of the Tyre is so low, I tried a 19" molded scattrack paddle its increase in diameter was good for tyre traits but it screwed up the rake :(

for trail riding I use a spare 18" rear with a 140 wide IRC M5B and 16/45 or 16/47 less grip from the sad little knobby means I don't need as much chain pull and it is nice to have a high top speed. I used to run the 16/40 but found the rear sprockets got chewed up real quick and I broke a chain, so went bigger to reduce the force.

I am not sure that is a problem, from what i understand that is pretty much normal 650 behavior, here is a problem i have, i find my shop refridgerator empty so i make a quick run to the station about 2 miles away, the first 1/8th mile through my field then another 1/8 mile or so cut-across through my buddy's field, then the same trip back home, when i get home i take off my back pack and crack open the first cold one of a six pack and BAM!--FOAM!--IN MY BEER!! now that is a serious problem, any suggestions?

seriosuly though for what its worth in my 600 6spd wide ratio, 140/80-18 back tire, i have been running 15-42 off road and 16-42 on road, 16-42 is doable off road but wants to lug at slow rpms on hills or rough terrain unless your on the clutch, or to go faster than comfortable in places, i agree with bushmechanic the bigger rear sprocket would probably be in order for you with the 16 on the front and could still probably be fine in the rougher slow stuff, my next sprocket will prbably be a couple bigger in the back also, although the hwy cruising speed 60-65mph @3800-4000 RPM is nice for fuel economy/engine wear, i dont thinks its really necessary to be able to do 90mph in 4th either..lol, i know our bikes are totally different animals but from what i red in your posts our numbers and ratios are pretty close, you guys just there a bit faster...
