Hi All,
This might be useful to some people out there, ever since I have had my FE550 04 the front suspension has been bad no response to small inputs riden on the road felt like a ridged front end. Every body kept saying they were binding and did all the usual things to rule this out still the same when you pulled back all the travel then let go the forks would sag but gave the impression that they were binding not a smooth action.
I had the forks apart when I first bought it to replace the fork seals and all looked good in there or so I thought. I had a new set of bushings sent over which arrived Friday so the weekend was fork project in between the rugby.
I stripped them completely checked all the shims all in good shape non warped, decreased all the parts and reassembled with the new bushings, bearing in mind the one's I took out didn't look worn.
Filled each leg 500ml 5 weight replaced the caps setting the spring preload at 6mm refit the fork legs in the yokes installed front wheel again checking the fork alignment fit brake caliper removed orange create now the moment of truth perfect very smooth action no binding what so ever.
I think Husa98 had a similar problem with his front forks but don't know if the new bushes he fit solved his problem, so if anybody has this scenario it's a good chance that the internal bushing are knackered.
Regards
Sparks.
