hello !

is about to buy a FS (2006) front fork to my 650 2002 (fe) . does it fits ? great upgrade ?

regards daniel

Yes it fits and it is an upgrade, depending on what you are going to do...
The FS-fork won't do well in the woods but if you are converting the bike for tarmac it definitely will be an improvement. First issue is that the newer fork uses a larger front axle than your bike is equipped with, so you have to either get a newer wheel or some kind of kit so you can use your old axle (and wheel) with the new forks. Second issue is the brake caliper. FS forks from 2005 or newer uses a radial brake caliper and therefore your brakes are not a straight fit.

I would probably mount the wheel & tire to see if it clears the fork guards as I did a similar swap on my 2010 FE with FS forks and the tire was hitting the fork guards and ever so slightly of center and Imo you may have to change the spacer's or off-set the wheel with the spokes a little or measure the width of the old/new hub that your using, If I were not at work I would look at mine and see but I'm out of state right now.
