I've got an 04 Fs450 and a friend of mine has got an 02 FC. We'd like to swap suspension. However, there is a problem. I've got big axle MotoX wheels, and he's got small axle SM wheels. What's the easiest way to use small axle forks with big axle wheels? Change the bearings? Lathe-time?

What about fitting small wheels to "big" forks?

Small wheel to big forks--no problem, KTM Hardparts has a spacer kit that you use with the small axle/wheel. It bushes up the axle to fit the big forks. Husaberg may have the exact same kit in it's Force catalog, but I am not sure.

Big wheel to small axle is a bit more problematic. There is no bearing change that will work. It is lathe time. What you have to do is copy the new (big) spacers exactly as far as outside dimentions and shape. Then, make the ID the exact same size as the ID of the small spacers, and voila, you have a set of spacers to adapt the big wheel to the small fork.

Excellent. I'll ask the local KTM-dealer. :)

My friend is friends with lathes, so I guess he'll easily manage!
