hey lads i know i'm a bit slack in shareing these photos, but better late than never.
we've done half dozen day rides since, but this is a little more special, since its not every day we get to go there.
we done this ride to fraser island at the end of july.
this is our little neck of the scrub,in relation to the bigger picture.

lots of good memories, but unfortunately we all got lost in the moment & forgot to take pictures or action shots for most of the ride.i had a aldi video cam stuck to my rear mudguard but unfortunatley it crapped itself by the time we got to the outside beach. :cuss:
i rode sweep for most of the trip till the berg swallowed the carby slide plate late on day 2,then i had to ride my cousins crf back home.

george was a funny bugger on the 426.he must of went over the bars 7 or 8 times in the soft sand on the saturday, and i recon he would have saved it "just" & i mean just!!!! probably another 7 or 8 times.
some of the most out of control wicked fishtails that i have ever seen!!
he went over the bars right where all these tourist buses where parked & having lunch at indian head. 8O
all these chickies came rac'en over flat out thinking he was dead.
he was alright,...a bit slow... but alright
i stacked the crf when i 1st rode it ,about 3 times in about 3k's ,but fortunatley, only goannas & dingos were the only spectators
anyway all good.....till next year & we will do it all again.
if any of you berg people want to come on this ride next june/july you are all quite welcome, just get in touch & we will go from there.
cheers ..weed..

Hey Weed,
Great to see some photo's of Fraser Island. Brings back memories, I was up there in October.

We didn't take the bikes. Plenty of bike talk though.
Here is my WR450 mate, me and my WR250 mate, sharing a beer at Lake Mckenzie. The rest of the bike mates (DRZ400 mate, FE450 08 mate, TE450 mate) are swimming with the wives and kids:

Lake Mckenzie is my favourite followed closley by Champagne Pools.

Can't believe how clear the water is at Lake Mckenzie. That's my elderst son he has moved from PW80 to CRF100. Not looking forward to the day I have to share my Husaberg with him

So are you organising the next Force Ride?

looks great and those 2007 Force ride 2 T-shirts get everywhere! (on the XR)

i initially thought you were riding around Cypher! but that would have taken 8-days! :D

regards

Taffy

I've been to Fraser 3 or 4 times, but never on a bike. We usually drive up from Noosa, up rainbow beach, and across the southern tip. Maybe next time I can get together with a few locals and do the trip on a bike? I live in the US, and visit the wifes family on the Sunshine Coast (and way out in Orroroo) every couple years.

For sure, Fraser is an amazing place! One of my favorites

glad you all liked the pics
yes, fraser island has changed.thats for sure.its a real tourist spot now, everyones out to make a dollar, but it had to happen eventually.its just that its making it so dear for the locals to go there.
now,i only like going there out of holiday time, when its not so busy.
dunno... :| next time i wouldn't mind going for a 3 dayer over there.2 days riding over there fighting soft sand all day,is starting to take toll on us over 40's :? when i get home after 2 days on the bike, the old body feels like its been"shot to pieces".a rest day in between sounds the go to me.
i recon you could do 3 days of riding over there without doing the same track twice.
in the 1980's a barge at the bottom end use to be $5 to get across,it was even free there for a while, when a price war was going on.now i think its $90.the other one is $150.
i use to take my yz490 over there & 8 people in my long wheel base larry landrover with a huge esky in the back, with minimal food & sleeping gear.
great boys weekends.i could tell many a story.
times have changed, rules have changed & we have all grown up a bit.
these days navigation is half the fun. finding the best tracks, getting it all down on gps, seeing new country & riding it.i find that more interesting & challenging than circuit riding,i get bored too quick.
you are right davo, we should organise a berg ride, but to get everyone together in the same spot in such a large country???
we need to hire dr who's tardis for the weekend.
.whos prepared to do the travel?

Fraser Island back in the 70's and 80's was the bees knees, no rego and do what you like, yep I will be with you old mate weedy for sure in Dr Who's TARDIS, I think with Jon Pertwee the 3rd Doctor or the 4th Tom Baker, not to mention that Weedy does look much like the first Master :giggle: if only he could make me 30 years old again so i would enjoy it much better than how old and RS I am now. there is a trick to riding in the sand but when you get the hang of it then it's fine to cut loose.

Sand

Hello Popup and pals. Wow that looks like huge fun riding there. Planning an Oz trip sometime. Got friends up north.
How much air is in those tires? Your Husaberg looks like it is "floating" as required on sand, so proper low pressures there. I bet the Yam had 20 PSI or so to be that bad. Do the bikes need to be road legal for that area? Thanks, Leon

Ivspeed if You want sand go too south Oregon coast by California more sand than you'll ever need.

Awesome,
nice pics and write up, liked the action shots over the log!!

140km long sand island, perfect for a ride. Beautiful place, I remember doing 130kmh+ up the beach in a V8 4wd,full esky and tunes going, 20 + years ago, great fun , lots of drinking , and as some have commented , not to much regulation over there years ago.

Was lots of accidents and carnage from what I remember , I imagine it would all be well regulated now. Eli creek and the inland lake were an eye opener , inland streams and the bush was really something.

Would love to do it on a bike sometime.

Cheers,

All have to be rego now.
