I own a 96 FE 501 and am looking for a bashplate to fit the bike. Upon checking with several makers I found out that they go back to a 98 year model. I was informed that if the frame of a 96 e-start model is the same as a 98-2000 year models then it will fit. I was also told to check with my dealer to find out. What better place 
. Question are they the same? or will the bashplate fit? One way or another I need one. Any suggestions or ideas?
