Folks,

is anybody having an idea how to tell the 4.2N/mm fork springs (2004s) from 4.4N/mm ones??

Thanks

very, very difficult. the difference is in the diameter of the 'wire' of the spring however, without knowing one it is difficult to know the other.

what i can tell you is that my 4-year old .42s are on the shelf and they were measured as being so knackered that they were just unde 41s and working their way down to 40s.

i have the ".42s" in the shed. i'm knackered from today right now but give me a few days and i'll try to put the vernier on them.

BTW, the suspension tuners would measure it for you. so if you are sending them off to be serviced or 'improved', let the suspension tuner check for you.

OK, maybe I should go a bit more into detail:
I got a set of springs from my local dealer which have been sitting in the shop for a while. Since there is absolutely no marking on the springs or the plastic "bag" they were in, I am not quite sure about the rate.
Wire diameter is 4,99 - 5,00mm (calibrated vernier). Distance between individual windings is 14,10mm.
The 2006 spare parts list has got some Numbers behind the part numbers(?). Such as 5,0 for the 4,2N/mm and 5,1 for the 4,4N/mm (if I am not mistaken). That makes me belief that those numbers bear a reference to the wire diameter. Right or wrong?
Emails to Husaberg Germany nor WP Suspension have brought any clarification…..

Appreciate your help!

that will be correct. 5.0mm = 4.2 springs but remember that they sag with age...
