My forks have a top out spring.
And when i extend (compress the top-out spring) I get a gap between the fork cap and compression spring.
is that right ?

yes that is how they are.

you can buy a taller top out spring. 50mm long and not 22mm like yours.

according to my part manual it is 34,7mm long.

The problem is that some one did adjust the preload an the forks and did it wrong because he
did not understand how it works with a top out spring.

when i pull up on the fork cap i get about 12-15 mm gap and the compression spring ratles
when the fork cap is resting on the compression spring the top out spring is fully extended.
I need to fill this gap to get the top out spring to work it is not woking now
( it is not compressing against the compression spring )

this text did explan it to me.

I think that your fork was 5mm shorter than mine. it is in the doc under model changes.

when I have the 34mm top-our springs my gap to the cap is 3mm. so I have 7mm shims for 4mm of pre-load. the next thing you should check if you have new springs is their length. the LDCs have 505mm long springs and yours had shorter ones. length? can't recall.

can you measure the free length of your springs please?

there is one other thing. the 3-legged washer that the spring sits on. has he turned this the wrong way up? THAT would do it? the three legs must point down at the ground.

stock is 43,2 x 510 i think.

the spring im putting in are 43x505 they are shorter than stock.
and i dont have my stock springs sold them long a go. to soft.

Ps i have found the answer im was looking for in these links in my previus post

I need to fill this 12 to 15mm gap to get the top out spring to compress against the main spring.
that is the right way with top out spring( top out spring is suposed to preload the main spring)
as it is now the top out spring just sit there fully extended and dose nothing and
there is no preload on the main spring.

Regards

well as I say. I have 4mm gap and if you have 5mm shorter springs you will have a 9mm gap.

good luck

Taffy
