I like a 5w fork oil in the WP stuff with stock valving. I'm really not too picky on a brand. My shop carries Silkolene and BelRay which both work fine.

5w oil (as recommended)

Tested lot´s of different brands and I prefer Rock Oil over Öhlins and Kayaba

Ron stick with motorex 5W it is the best for stock valving some of the other oils
may not be exactly 5W just my 2 cents

Another question along these lines. The forks have been tweaked on by White Bros 8 or so years ago, however they no longer work on suspension and can't tell me what was done. Assuming that some degree of valving was changed should I stick with the 5 wt. ???
Thank You
Ron

I guess eventually we would have every fork oil manufacturer named as a favorite. My personal opinion is that Motorex is WAY over priced and over marketed as the "oil of choice" for KTMs and Husabergs. Believe me Motorex paid a pretty penny for that distinction. I have no problem paying a premium for the best, but the Motorex products I have used have failed to impress me.

A few years ago, Shell was the oil of choice for KTM and Husabergs. I guess their marketing dollars ran out, or Motorex outbid them

Like Viking said, there is no exact set spec for these fluids, so different manufacturers 5w, for example, will vary. It's not by much, and Motorex sure isn't the industry standard so I don't know why their oil would be a "true" 5w any more than any others.

Anyway, still stick with the 5w fork oil, even on your revalved forks.

big chart of oil viscosities

not all 5wts are the same.

FWIW I kill belray after 10-15 hours in forks and 15 in the shock if hammered a bit it froths up after 30 min or so and makes the forks seem terrible. Torco has good reviews for anti foaming.

motorex racing 5wt 22.6 Cst

belray 5wt fork oil approx 15 Cst

motul factory line 5 wt is 18 Cst and 2.5wt is 16Cst

anywhere between 15 and 32 Cst works in WP forks. I prefer 22Cst in the berg

few thoughts on the subject, some fork oils contains detergent that makes the oil
less shear load resistance now a fork has lots of shear load.
riders in warmer climate don't deal with this but those of us that ride in cold weather
some of the fork oils gets too thick in the cold weather.that's a harsh ride
the motorex oil is god in these aspects that they cost a few dollars more is trivial, that's cost of having a bike that works
